Little Ellie

It is with sadness and joy that we share with you the passing of our beautiful dachshund, Little Ellie. Sadness that we no longer have Little Ellie in our daily lives, and joy because we were able to spend four great years with her. Little Ellie came in through lost and found, to the Denver Dumb Friends League Buddy Center in March 2008. When Joseph and Hilde saw Little Ellie, it was love at first sight. With the blessing and support of William and Joe, we brought Little Ellie home at the age of 15 and, when she passed, she was just a couple weeks shy of celebrating her 19th birthday.

Little Ellie loved to hang out with the other dachshunds, go for car rides, and of course, she enjoyed each and every meal. One of Little Ellie's greatest accomplishments last year was participating in the Furry Scurry with Hilde and Joseph raising thousands of dollars for the Dumb Friends League. Granted, Little Ellie did ride in her stroller and Hilde hobbled along on her new knee – thank heavens for Joseph.

If you ask if we would ever adopt another 15 year old pet, our answer is a resounding yes. Little Ellie brought us joy, happiness and helped us to slow down and really appreciate life.
